As a forty something I have to tell you when I hear about a local business that’s new to me the first thing I do is search on Facebook to get a feel for their business.
When I go to the page I can usually get a good feel for the business just by scrolling through some of their latest posts. But sometimes there are not any latest posts and that makes me wonder. I wonder… I wonder if they are still in business, I wonder about the personality of the business, I wonder if they are very good at what they do….and I usually don’t get much further than that.
I like to compare this to the empty restaurant syndrome. You know how when a new restaurant in town opens up and you are considering checking it out. If every time you drive by the parking lot is full and the place is busy you think….. hmmm it must be pretty good we should try it out sometime. On the other hand if every time you drive by the place the parking lot is empty and you only see a few people eating there… you think hmmm they seem to be struggling, I wonder if they are any good?
The same thing happens when you look at a Facebook page that inactive, boring, and has no personality! It doesn’t really entice you to try it out!When
