One day, early in my business, I asked a Pilates Studio owner for some pictures of her doing Pilates, and she pretty much told me flat out, that she wouldn’t be sharing any photos of her as an instructor or a student of Pilates! I was so surprised, that I asked Carey Sadler, Owner of Rivercity Pilates and PMA Certified Instructor, how she felt about me using pictures of her to represent her business on social media. Here are her words!
As a business owner I have spent the last almost 7 years figuring out how to do what I love and make money doing it. The process has been an amazing journey that continues to take me to new places every day.
One of my biggest aha moments as a business owner is the realization that marketing myself is not a bad thing. With marketing I am trying to sell my services, and my passion and my love of movement is doing the world a service. If I don’t get the word out about what I do I can’t help the people that need it most.
Something that I often hear from instructors is I don’t really teach for the money, I do it because I love it. Of course you do!!! Why else would you do it? Doesn’t it make sense that if it’s something you love and you can change people’s lives doing it that you share it with the world?
If you love it so much then invest in yourself! Put yourself out there. Don’t feel bad because you are getting paid to do it! Everybody talks about how they wish they had a job they love and you have it! Own it.
